What is the vision of PdX20?
First, it is to see those who Jesus misses the most reconnected in a relationship with Him. Therefore, this church planting network is focused on gathering lostness into incarnational community AND not re-scattering Christians from one church to another church. Church planting has to be more than Christian transfer! We want more.
Second, Our vision is to see a team of people live as missionaries. This is a primary difference in a missional church planting model. Missionaries follow three primary stages of creating church: first, they engage culture; second, they unite Saint and Sojourner into community (relationships are key); and finally, structure these incarnational communites into a congregation. Again, our focus is not to start with a large group of church attenders, but with a small band of missionaries.
Third, the GOSPEL is primary. Jesus, the founder of our movement, gives us good news in experiencing the abundant life. It is the Gospel which brings Saint and Sojourner together and if you attract them with the gospel, you will keep them with the gospel.
Finally, we are focused on making disciples. The Great Commission calls us to make disciples. It is in the MAKING OF DISCIPLES churches are birthed, leaders are raised up, churches are started and movements are created.
OUR DREAM…..
We dream of hundreds collaborating/networked missional communities/church plants spread across an urban community who choose to work together to multiply the making of disciples, to raise up leaders, identify new communities/people groups where God is at work, create and share resources, invest in creating a continuous, reproducing movement, in order to tangibly expand the Kingdom of God.
